Why carriers get stuck, and what we do about it
The portal isn't hard so much as unforgiving — one screen decides your fee, and a miscounted truck there costs hundreds. We show both numbers up front, then stay with you through the screen where it matters.
- ✓Your exact fee, never hiddenThe government bracket is shown free, before you pay us anything.
- ✓We catch the expensive mistakeThe vehicle-count screen sets your bracket. Get it wrong by one truck and it can cost hundreds — that's the screen we watch hardest.
- ✓You stay the filerYou type it, you pay the government, you press submit. We guide from the side. Not a filing service.
If you cross a state line, UCR applies to you
It doesn't matter whether you run one truck or two hundred — interstate carriers, brokers and freight forwarders all owe 2027 UCR. Only the bracket changes.

One truck still counts. You're in the 0–2 bracket — $55 to the government.

Unified Carrier Registration FAQ
UCR is a federally mandated annual registration for motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies that operate in interstate commerce. You pay a fee based on your fleet size, and participating states enforce it at roadside.
Any carrier operating commercial motor vehicles across state lines (interstate). Even a single-truck owner-operator running interstate must register. Intrastate-only carriers generally do not.
The government fee is tiered by power-unit count and starts at $55 for 0–2 vehicles, rising as your fleet grows. EasyUCR shows you the exact bracket before you pay — we never hide the underlying fee.
Registration for the 2027 UCR year opens October 1, 2026, and enforcement begins January 1, 2027. Registering before December 31, 2026 keeps you clear of roadside fines and out-of-service holds.
No — and that's deliberate. We look up your carrier record, compute your exact fee bracket, and prepare every field you need. You then enter those values on the official UCR.gov portal, pay the government fee there, and submit. You stay the filer. We are not a filing service and are not affiliated with the UCR Plan, FMCSA or any state agency.
Operating without active UCR in a participating state can mean fines, citations and being placed out of service — typically $300 to $1,000+ per state, plus downtime. Registering on time is far cheaper.
